You know, after 10 years of shooting I still find myself from time to time doing the old self timer to set light. I wonder how many miles I've clocked over the years going to and from camera to subject spot setting light? At least nowadays face detection helps with setting focus by yourself 😳

When it is cold outside I tell my clients to keep in mind they only need to do this once a year (of course the temperature has to be within reason). In addition to capturing an amazing image of yourself it is important that you capture an amazing MARKETABLE photo of yourself. This is key and up to the photographer to land it 📸. At the end of the day actor headshots and model portfolio images are photos used to present and market yourself. Give thought to your character type and how you want to present yourself professionally when prepping for a shoot 🤔. I hate structure BUT...if you are a creative being and are looking to make a living of it (actor, model, photographer, self employed whatever) BUILD STRUCTURE to your daily routine. It is incredibly easy to wander around chasing an open goal. Be specific with your goal, write it down, and create a daily routine on how you plan to achieve. I'm passionate about having a grand idea and investing you're everything into accomplishing that goal. I think one of the hardest things when taking on something grand is to keep the motivation or inspiration to keep going 😐. Inevitably you hit walls and sometimes fail big along the way. Rational thinking says it makes more sense to just quit. Many times this is true but that doesn't mean it's the right answer👎. This is when you have to reflect on what you're pursuing and why? One of the biggest variables when shooting with a photographer is not knowing what it's like to shoot with them?
